Melody Oquist

Melody Oquist is an accomplished designer based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She combines her B.S. in design from the University of Minnesota with her caring spirit and a great sense for what the market wants. This is clearly evident in her numerous designs and products. Melody has always specialized in rug designs as her first love, but she has also explored other areas of design such as clothing, blankets, jewelry, even purses.

All of Melody’s projects combine beauty with her love for nature and the environment as well as social concerns. Her commitment to social concerns is one of the reasons she has chosen to work with Omari Rugs & Nordic Home Interiors and their partnership with the RUGMARK Foundation, which promotes child free labor.

Melody draws on nature for many of her design inspirations – using such basic items as birch bark, prairie grasses, textures in plant life, butterflies and ocean fish. She hopes to inspire the viewer to look back to nature with greater appreciation.

Melody has worked with and completed many design projects for rug, clothing, and domestic product companies for the past twenty years.
